Dear Mr. Zaghi:

I am elated that you are spreading the word about the power of love in all of our daily lives. Love is the best solution. I can speak to its importance in the legal profession and if it is important in the legal profession it should be beneficial to any profession.

I have been a civil litigation attorney since 1989. As an attorney, I counsel clients on difficult legal matters, and represent them in court in litigation if needed. I can attest to the importance of doing my best, based on acceptance, fairness and maintaining an open mind. Unfortunately, many of my peers take an unnecessarily adversarial stance based on just the opposite of love. Instead of representing their client's best interests, they get both themselves and their clients mired in an intractable mess.

Standing up for your client can be done with love and sincerity. I believe in being fair with your client, and fair to opposing attorneys and their clients. This way, common goals can be reached and equitable solutions crafted, without the fog created by bickering and posturing. Because of this approach, my clients can reach a resolution that also achieves a sense of satisfaction. In fact, many of my opposing counsel refer me clients and some of my former adversaries have even become my friends.

We do not need to draw a line between our private and professional lives when it comes to showing respect, being fair, and being forthright. What we preach at home to our children, applies equally to our professional lives, even one as challenging and potentially adversarial as being a litigator. I believe that your message of love, fairness, acceptance and doing one's best should be cherished and followed by all of us, no matter what walk of life we are in. The message of love is applicable to every faith, creed, and life. If the laws are created and applied with fairness and acceptance the world will be a better place.
